| Part 1 of the poem....two parter? I like this one. I had to do it for an LA project. After eading this, read End Of Holding On.

The stars are twinkling tonight So many stars illuminate the country sky You follow my gaze with a slow smile on your face
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
The swirl of smoke rising from the end of a cigarette disappears into this country sky Soft humming escapes your lips The porch light glows dim
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
Hands tap out a beat on the table Hums turn into warbled singing and flows out into the country sky Long fingers grasp and wrap themselves around my hand
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
The air is fresh but cold The night is still yet loud People look up into the country sky Restless but still content
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
Smoke, singing and country sky
A small tap on the table the cigarette’s out An inhale of the country sky The stub falls to the ground An exhale of smoke; choking
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
Soft laughs and faint conversation Faint conversation that fades into the country sky Fingers that hold on tighter Squeeze with no signs of letting go
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
The voices get louder Loudness that couldn’t be absorbed by the still, beautiful, black country sky You smile and smile and grin and grin.
I close my eyes and curl around the moment.
As we go further into the night I don’t want to sleep But stare all night long at the country sky Everything’s suddenly so quiet quite and still
